Busbar Maintenance & Inspection

The life expectancy of a fully maintained busbar system will be circa 25 years, it is therefore recommended by many manufacturers that busbar systems are inspected and maintained annually.
A busbar system that has not been regularly checked is at risk of failure. Issues that can occur can include:

  • Joint packs incorrectly installed
  • Ingress of water resulting in dirt and debris within the joints
  • Joints not torqued to the correct setting
  • Stress on the joints due to incorrect bracketry and support

Desumo offers a maintenance service as follows:

  • Planned surveys are available free of charge to enable issues to be identified prior to quotations for annual maintenance being prepared
  • Visual and Mechanical Inspections are carried out
  • Re-Torqueing of joint packs to ensure electrical integrity
  • Pro-active maintenance to give early warnings of any issues
  • Application of Irreversible Temperature Stickers Annually
  • Annual Application of dated torque stickers – clearly visible showing when joints were last inspected and torqued
  • Insulation Resistance Testing and Ductor Testing
  • Follow-up reports issued detailing any problems encountered during the inspection
  • All equipment used to carry out the maintenance is fully calibrated

Desumo are fully trained and accredited on Busbar manufactured by Siemens, BKS, EAE, Legrand, and Starline as well as switchgear by Elecsis.
